Choosing hosting is easier when you start from what you will actually run on it, not from the biggest numbers on a pricing table. Here is a short checklist we walk new customers through.
1. Start with what you are running
- A company website or portfolio with a few pages needs very little: a small amount of storage and one website is enough.
- A WordPress site or online store grows over time — product images, plugins and backups all take space, so leave room.
- Several websites (for example, one per brand or client) need a plan that allows multiple sites under one account.
Write down how many websites you plan to host in the next year. That one number usually decides the plan.
2. Storage and bandwidth
Storage holds your website files, databases and email. A typical business website uses far less than people expect, but email accounts with years of attachments can fill space quickly. If your team keeps a lot of email, choose a plan with more storage.
Bandwidth is the data your visitors download. Plans with unmetered bandwidth mean you do not have to estimate traffic in advance.
3. Email on your own domain
Addresses like sales@yourcompany.com look more professional than a free email account and stay with your business when staff change. Check how many email accounts are included — unlimited accounts are useful as your team grows.
4. SSL, backups and security
These should not be extras:
- Free SSL so your site loads over
https://and browsers do not show a “Not secure” warning. - Daily backups you can restore yourself from cPanel, so a mistake or a broken update is not a disaster.
- DDoS protection at the network level to keep your site reachable during attacks.
5. Control panel and one-click installs
A control panel such as cPanel lets you manage email, files, databases and backups without a developer. One-click installers set up WordPress and e-commerce tools in minutes.
6. Shared hosting or a VPS?
Shared hosting is the right start for most business websites: it is affordable and fully managed. Consider a VPS when you need:
- your own server resources for a busy store or web application,
- custom software or settings that shared hosting does not allow,
- full root access for your developers.
You can start on shared hosting and move to a VPS later — migration should not mean starting over.
7. Local support and payment
When something goes wrong, you want support that answers quickly, in your time zone, on the channels you already use — such as WhatsApp. Local payment options (bank transfer, Easypaisa, JazzCash, RAAST) also make renewals simpler.
Quick checklist
- How many websites will you host this year?
- How much email will your team keep?
- Are SSL, daily backups and DDoS protection included?
- Is there a control panel with one-click installs?
- Will you need a VPS later — and can you upgrade without hassle?
- Can you reach support quickly and pay locally?
